Pantster vs. Plotter

The great Laini Taylor waxes eloquently on the age-old conundrum: do you fly by the seat of your pants when writing, or do you outline?

I am of the former variety. Try as I might, when I try to outline and think ahead, I get nothing. I have to discover the story along the way, which is fun and surprising. She does a great job of summing it up here.

I'm basically a panster, too, although I do some mini-outlining of scenes when I start doing rewrites.

Hi Elizabeth, me too. Sometimes I can outline when I've got some of the story laid-out. Then I say to myself, "Ok, where the hell is this headed?!"

Thanks for stopping by!
