Wild Things

The trailer to the film Where the Wild Things Are is up. You can find it here. If someone were to ask me who would be the perfect choice to direct this film I would have never said Spike Jonze. But now that I've seen the trailer, it's the perfect choice. This is the man that brought us Being John Malkovich and a bunch of wacky Bjork videos.

I am truly surprised that the studio and writers went this direction. The safer choice would have been to do a kittens and ice cream version full of happiness. But that's really not the tone of Sendak's book, is it?

I think this is going to be wonderful. I am sure I will cry. Something about the trailer just exudes the idea of daydreams and melancholia that fits perfectly with my remembrance of the book, but it's been ages.

Anyway, check it out.
