SCBWI winter conference
So I registered for my first big conference.
It's the Annual Winter SCBWI Conference in New York in January.
My wallet hurts.
Airfare. Hotel. Workshops. I'm really looking forward to it. Anyone else going? There's a small one I'm going to next weekend here in Illinois, but this is the Big Mack Daddy of writers' conferences. Agents. Editors. Authors. Critiques. I can't wait. If you've attended one of these before I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

I've gone twice and loved it! Just immersing yourself into the writing world for three days is so nice!
Have fun!
Cool for you, Ron. Have fun for the rest of us staying home! Are you bringing your ms with you??
Pink, Mrs. Balthazar might try to come. We need to look at her work schedule.
I'm sure she would find plenty to keep herself entertained in the Big Apple.
Funny...I was actually thinking ms as in manuscript (ya know, to show to those agents and editors), but yes, that's cool that your mrs is coming too! ;-)
Just signed up. I'm going to do the Friday writer's intensive too!!!! My husband wants to come as well and we're trying to figure out what to do with our two boys...
I'm really excited. Thanks for posting about it.
LOL, that's so funny Pink. I will indeed be bringing the MS as in manuscript. And maybe the other ms, too!
K.M. How cool! Maybe we can meet.
I've been to smaller SCBWI's on the west coast, and they are inspirational! Wish the whole crit group could go with you...
I wish I could go, but it's just not in the budget.
BTW...thanks for stopping by my blog and for the good wishes. I read your profile, and you got it just right: write what you love!
Prince - I met my agent at a conference. I signed up for a "pitch" session with her, and lucky for me, she liked what I had to say and liked my manuscript. Conferences are a great way to network and be inspired. You'll leave feeling like your writing career has been reborn, whether you snag an agent or not. Good luck. Keep us posted!!
i went to the LA one this past august for the first time. 4 days! i had a lot of fun, and most of all, met great people, like elise!
enjoy! it's worth it for the networking and inspiration!
That's awesome, Sarah. I should be so fortunate.
Cindy, That's great. I do wish my crit buddies could make it, but there will always be future events.
And, of course, all the glam parties we will attend when we're rich and famous.
Congrats on the agent, Ghost Girl!
I'm hoping, praying, pleading to go this year. It would be so fun.
I may go next year or the following year, if the book out on submission is picked up.
Have fun!
I spent a LONG time yesterday pricing every last bit of it. Then I entered a worshipful state of mind where I asked several gods to look down upon me and bestow a big fat contract that would pay my way. Thus far . . . no luck.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. You're going to have an amazing time and come home with all sorts of fabulous new ideas for Glimmerlings.
Oh, Elise, I was so hoping your post was going to end with "So I'll see you there!"
Alas, I understand.
I'm so looking forward to it. Wish my other Critters could be there.
I'm looking forward to it, too. Some other year.
That's right. NOT going. But I honestly and truly wish I could. Hope you have fun and learn lots.
